DETACHMENTS
"H.A.L" Released on Thisisnotanexit on 12th April 2010
Neo-post punk electronic resistance force Detachments will release their brilliant new single "Heard A Lie" on 12th April 2010. It's a dead-eyed, pulsating riddle, insidiously alluding to the phenomenon of mass complicit behaviour. Lyrically the song tackles the subject of conspiracies and the universal mistrust many people experience of modern life but don't admit to; the subjugation and pacification of the masses via manipulation by apathy inducing media. And about trying to work out what is real amongst the smog of falseness from the smokescreens in place throughout the modern world. Chanelling these existentialist undercurrents is James Ford and Jimmy Robertson, who add icy, electronic undertones while the emotion within remains tightly coiled and elusive.
There will be remixes from Mary Anne Hobbs' favourite female producer Ikonika and the glorious Disco Dub Remix by Andrew Weatherall.
The B side is "Sands Of Time", a beautiful, other worldly, hypnotic song featuring the ethereal vocals of Heather Martlett from The Big Pink favourites Salem.
