From February 21st to May 15th 2012 the inaugural Pongathon City Challenge Series will aim to find the best and wackiest social ping pong teams in the Capital!  The winners will be presented with a Pro Table Tennis Table as used by the Chinese Olympic Team at the recent International Table Tennis Federation’s Pro Tour Final plus a cheque to donate to their favourite charity.  And as London Champions they will go on to compete in the National Pongathon Inter- City Challenge Series to be held later in the year.

Its fast, fun and fabulously hip shaking as teams battle it out for their companies bragging rights, dressed for the kill and moving to the groove of the 80’s! It’s a Pongathon Party so expect plenty of bar and music action in the mix!

Each company can register up to four teams (2 players in each team i.e doubles) with the group stages being held every other Tuesday at Pongathon from Feb 21st to May 1st.  Time designations for the heats are set between 7pm -9pm to make it as convenient as possible for all the group matches to take place.  Deadline for team registrations is Thursday 16th Feb and costs £25 per team with £5 being set aside for the winner’s choice of charity. Each heat will comprise of 4 randomly selected teams drawn into a group and played in a round robin format (Champions League style) adjudicated by one of our Pongathon hosts to make sure fair play and ping pong etiquette is upheld at all times! Games are played up to 11points and are best out of 3. The group winners will then automatically go through to the Pongathon City Challenge Series Final on Tuesday May 15th

Pongathon will supply all the bats, balls and world class tables to play on.  This is a social ping pong tournament so no pro or club players please! If we find you in the above category you will be made to play with the world’s smallest mini-bats for all your games!

What do you need to bring? Bring all your work colleagues down to support you and your company (its free entry!).  We encourage whooping, hollering, backchat and banter, responsible drinking and wild ping pong action! Everyone is encouraged to wear their ‘team colours’ or retro sportswear with loads of prizes given out to the best dressed and most outrageous teams on the night.
