Listen to Syko

Listen to Harpe

'Opening with twisted, almost unrecognizable vocal samples and swelling waves of noise, the nostalgic-tinged "Syko" is a beautiful,
organic slice of house music reminiscent of the likes DJ Koze and his Pampa label' XLR8R

“If you need something to soundtrack your last eight minutes on earth, throw on “Harpe.” It’s a song that encompasses the full spectrum of human emotion, coating every possibility in a glaze of dark rapture” Stereogum

“This year, Kenton Slash Demon really impressed us, both in the form of their tour de force release Skydancer and with their no less ambitious live shows” - Red Bull

“Kenton Slash Demon's return could hardly be better timed” - Clash

Kenton Slash Demon, the duo of Silas Moldenhawer and Jonas Kenton have signed to Future Classic – the Australian independent label and home to Flume, Chet Faker and Jagwar Ma – for their forthcoming AA-side 12”Harpe/Syko out 18th September. This follows the recent underground hit Skydancer 12”. To celebrate the signing, Kenton Slash Demon is sharing a stream of excellent new single “Harpe.”

Future Classic founder Nathan McLay says of the signing, “We are psyched to be working with Kenton Slash Demon. They are an illusive act whose infrequent originals and even rarer remixes became early morning staples at our club nights in Sydney over the years. KSD make forward thinking four to the floor club music with strong emotional gravitas that's at once bleak and euphoric.”

Kenton Slash Demon get playful on 'Harpe'. With a looped vox cut that bounces with giddy euphoria, it's both a sad and celebratory stance from a track that radiates a big room feel.
Double A side 'Syko' goes on to blend and contrast warm future samples with drum patterns that reflect the duo's affections for UK garage.

Moldenhawer and Kenton, both children of the early 80´s, grew up alongside each other in Copenhagen. In their teenage years they discovered electronic music and were inspired to start spinning records and producing tracks together. Years later they formed the indie-electro outfit, When Saints Go Machine, whose music won them commercial success and a wide range of awards in their home country, especially as “Producers Of The Year” for their international debut album Konkylie, that peaked at#45 on Billboard’s “Uncharted / Next Big Sound” list in America.

During work on the When Saints Go Machine debut, Kenton Slash Demon released their critically acclaimed Khattabi EP on Tartelet Records.  A steady succession of high quality EPs followed on the Danish label: Sun EP (2010), Matter EP (2010), Daemon EP (2011) and the “Ore” single (2012), garnering the duo widespread recognition and praise from critics and peers alike. Fans over the years include DJ Koze, Dixon, Claude Von Stroke, Brodinski, Luciano, Hot Chip, John Talabot, Gold Panda and Michael Mayer.

Kenton Slash Demon’s sound is both organic and futuristic, and their obvious skills take their productions further than the typical frame and dramaturgy of a club track. They want to create soundtracks for clubs as well as music that you can listen to on your home stereo, thus blurring the space between the public and private experience.

Kenton Slash Demon have returned to the live circuit, playing a slew of European festivals this summer to rave reviews. They tour the states this fall in support of the Harpe/Syko 12” before heading to Europe in early 2016. A list of current dates is below with more to be announced soon.
