South London duo The Correspondents, formed in 2007 and quickly gained a reputation for taking their audience on a journey through a multitude of genres, from jazz and blues, to the nether regions of electro and drum’n’bass. Aside from the music itself, The Correspondents have become renowned for their videos, which are consistently unique in style and pioneering in technique. This marks the duo’s triumphant return to Village Underground, following two sold out shows there previously, this will be a show with a difference. With a full band in tow, The Correspondents will be breaking technological boundaries by teaming up with video artist Naren Wilks, to bring their Award Winning video for Fear and Delight to the stage.

Another alias of longtime jazz player Cristiano Crisci, also known in electronic circles as Digi G'Alessio. With cross genre accolades and support spanning the globe, he is already established as one of Italy's brightest talents. Clap! Clap!'s global rhythms owe as much debt to the Inuit tribes of Alaska, as they do the Staccato footwork of Chicago and West African percussion. Cristiano’s music features traditional Italian folk rhythms and melodies, mixed with a global harvest of found-sounds smashed through an electronic beat machine mindstate.
Darkster Darkstar first released a pair of game-changing 12" singles on Kode 9's fledgling Hyperdub label. These fused unique sonic futurism with an avant- garde pop sensibility that immediately set them apart from many emerging producers. The British re-election results of 2015 and the theme of austerity, inspired Darkstar's writing sessions and electronic sound palette during the creation of their acclaimed third studio album, 'Foam Island' released on Warp. Following their 2015 Troxy performance alongside Pantha du Prince, Zomby, Shackleton and Paula Temple, they return to Convergence in 2016.

Raised in the Gaslamp district of San Diego, William Bensussen has made the City of Angels and the ethereal electronic beat sounds his domain for the last decade. In LA, he joined forces with the Brainfeeder label, becoming a mainstay of the legendary Low End Theory nights also honing his live performance alongside other luminaries Flying Lotus, Thundercat and producer Shlohmo. Like FlyLo, jazz and movie soundtracks have been the root of much of GLK’s sample work. Last year these were given flesh as a 14-piece Angeleno outfit The Gaslamp Killer Experience which took Coachella, and some startled Drake fans, by storm. A live recording of the full performance in LA was released in 2015. The Gaslamp Killer Experience is a live-performance designed to realize the vision of a singular DJ, producer and musical maverick.

The Herbaliser Best known as Ninja Tune's original jazz hip-hop experimentalists, The Herbaliser aka Jake Wherry and DJ Ollie Teeba have released albums to critical acclaim since the 90s. Over the years they have collaborated with major artists including Roots Manuva and MF Doom. For their 20th anniversary, The Herbaliser present a high octane spectacular of Future-Funk featuring London MC, Rodney P, a three-piece horn section and full live band. Expect samples, scratches, super heavy, psychedelia, post-hip-hop audio and a night packed full of party crowd-pleasers.
Justin McNulty aka KUTMAH moved to the United States when he was twelve years old, grew up in Hollywood, California and ultimately made a name for himself as a talented underground artist & DJ. An intrinsic member of eclectic Los Angeles-based music collective 'Dublab', in 2004 KUTMAH launched the seminal club 'Sketchbook', which forged fundamental roots of the now-infamous LA beat scene. KUTMAH has since toured Europe playing shows with Saul Williams, Flying Lotus, Gonjasufi and The Gaslamp Killer.

Larry Gus is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer who has remixed artists including, Cut Copy, Sandro Perri, Eric Copeland, YACHT, Sinkane and Little Boots, and has performed extensively around the world. Combining sample-based ethics and crystal clear psychedelic pop melodies, merging into an infinitely dense amount of layers and polyrhythms, Larry Gus has become known for energetic and chaotic live performances, which involve singing and playing various percussion over samplers with a Sufi-esque ritual intensity.

But this prolific and restless Athens, Georgia band wanted to avoid the Britpop nostalgia trap. Familiar, angular melodies were backed by a spine-tingling and foot shuffling array of musical styles and influences including punk, prog, disco, funk before fully heading off the rails with the delightfully surreal and psychedelic Satanic Panic (2004). Following the release of their thirteenth and most personal full-length album 'Aureate Gloom', they're back to headline London's Village Underground as part of Convergence 2016.
From Syria in the Hasake region, Omar earned his reputation as an incredible live performer by singing at weddings, birthday parties and christenings. His voice and style stood out as he adapted his songs and lyrics to instil happiness in his listeners. Those parties yielded hundreds of cassette tapes, at first offered as gifts and later distributed throughout the region. Souleyman introduced “dabke” to the international audience via his incredible live performances, his remixes for Björk’s ‘Biophilia’ and his 2013 record ‘Wenu Wenu’ produced by Four Tet. In 2015, Souleyman released his second and most personal album to date, ‘Bahdeni Nami’, featuring remixes by a number of renowned electronic artists and DJs including Modeselektor, Gilles Peterson, Legowelt and Four Tet. Syria’s most successful musical export, brings his wild dance party to London's KOKO for Convergence on Wednesday 16 March. Italian DJ/Production duo Simbiosi released ‘Elements’ for Werkdiscs/Ninja Tune in 2015 - a 3-part box set of fourteen tracks spanning techno, industrial, hardcore and abstract explorations. They’ve produced remixes for Actress and Vaghe Stelle for Margot Records, and will open the night at Village Underground on Saturday 19 March, for Convergence.
